On the weekend of October 13th, 14th and 15th Lake Macquarie city council will be hosting the Lake Macquarie Big Weekend. This great event has loads of activities for the whole family, and will be a fantastic opportunity to make the most of beautiful Lake Macquarie and surrounding area.
Round 4 Of The Offshore Superboat Championship Lands In Lake Macquarie This October
Jet and Jive Concert and Jet Ski Demonstration
The festivities kick off on Friday the 13th with the Jet and Jive concert held at the Warners Bay podium, this is a free all-ages concert that runs from 6-9PM. From 5-6PM there will be a special demonstration of speed and skill by the jet ski racing teams to get the crowd warmed up. Be sure to get to the waterfront early to secure a spot with a good view of the lake.
Jet Ski racing
Kicking off at 9:30AM from the banks of lion’s park in Eleebana is the PWC Jet Ski Endurance racing. This event goes all day until 5PM and showcases some of Australia's premier Jet Ski talent. The excitement continues on Sunday with circuit racing from 8:30AM - 5PM.
Offshore Superboat Championships
The main event of the Big Weekend is the 4th round of the Offshore Superboat Championships.
This event see several class categories of high octane racing boats battling it out at speeds of over 200 km/h across the lake. The racing will take place at 11AM Saturday and 11AM and 1PM Sunday. There will be many great vantage points on the shores of the lake at Warners bay and Marmong Point, but the best place to view the action is track side on the water.
There are several anchorage points around the course to put you right in the centre of the action. For an upclose look at these spectacular racing machines head to Marmong Point Marina which is acting as pit lane for this round of the Offshore Superboat Championships.

Aerobatic displays
To keep the crowds entertained between races the talented pilots of Matt Hall Racing will be keeping all eyes skyward with spectacular aerobatics stunts and maneuvers. The aerial displays will be at 11:45AM and 2PM Saturday and 9:45AM and 11:45AM Sunday, don’t miss out!
Water sports Demonstrations
Marmong point Sailing Club will be giving you the chance to try out various water sports for free on Saturday between 10AM and 3PM. Come down and experience the thrill of windsurfing, kite-boarding, kayaking and more. On Sunday they will be hosting a barbecue so head on down for some great food and secure a prime spot for watching the Superboats.
Warners Bay Markets
For a change of pace and a chance to sample some great local food, crafts and live entertainment check out the Warners Bay Markets location on the foreshore from 9AM-4PM both Saturday and Sunday. Hosted by the Warners Bay Chamber of commerce these markets will have something for everyone.
Food of the World Fete
Hosted by Lake Macquarie High School the Food of the World Fete will give you the chance to take your taste buds on a tour of the world. Sample the great range of international dishes and then take a short stroll down the hill to the shore to watch the Superboat racing. The fete runs from 8AM-4PM Saturday and Sunday.
Wood Workers open day
Marmong Point Hall will play host to local woodworkers displaying their handiwork, and will be open from 8AM-4PM both Saturday and Sunday. The hall is located 150m south of Marmong Point Sailing club, just across the road from the lake.
There will also be a range of community displays from the Guides, Scouts, Rural Fire Service, and a sausage sizzle and activities for the kids. The famous Shark in a Bus mobile museum will also be onsite from 10AM-3PM both Saturday and Sunday.
